Dark Sky New Mexico (DSNM) announced today that it’s annual Star Party and Business Anniversary Celebration will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019. The fee for this event is $25/person. To register, click here!.

The event has previously brought astronomers and guests from over ten states to help celebrate another successful business year. “This event celebrates our company’s third year in business,” said Lawrence Rosenberg, DSNM Managing Partner, “… and acknowledges the increase in member astronomers using our site, and the infrastructure improvements we’ve made over the past twelve months.”

This event will begin at 10 a.m. with a guided tour of the Chiricahua Natural History Museum and an “on your own” lunch at the Sky Island Grill near Rodeo. Our Third Annual Horseshoe Tournament will begin around 3 p.m. with horseback riding lessons and hiking tours of Rattlesnake Mountain available as alternative activities. Grilled grass fed beef hamburgers, Sonoran hot dogs, potato salad, and baked beans will be served beginning at 5 p.m. Coffee, tea, and adult beverages will be served throughout the event. A tour of the renovated property, including our newly constructed nine-pier shared observatory, will be led by DSNM’s resident engineer Al Acker. This tour will kick off a night of viewing and sky tours, led by some of our member astronomers. An area will be set aside for those who wish to bring their own telescope. The fun will continue into the wee hours.

“We take great pride in the hospitality we offer and we have found that 60 people is just about the limit of our facilities and staff,” said Michael Hensley, DSNM Partner and Site Manager. “We want to make sure everyone has a good time and gets to participate the many planned activities” so the event will be limited to sixty participants.
